I was a one pack a day smoker for 42 years. I had quit many times and had spent lots of money on programs such as Smoke Enders and the patch. I could stop smoking for about four months but I couldn't seem to stay a non-smoker. In social situations or when under stress, I would give in and have "just one cigarette." The "just" one always seemed to expand so that within a week I was back to buying that pack a day.

I had a really bad cough all the time. My husband, an ex smoker, was really fed up with me and always complained about the way I smelled. I was always embarrassed to be the only one in the group who still smoked. I hated going outside in -20 to smoke in the winter and the looks of distain that people gave me as they entered my office building. I really needed to stop because it was affecting my relationship and how I felt about myself but I was really worried that I would "fail" again.

Kathy asked me a lot of questions before my hypnosis session to find out what my unique triggers and fears were. I told her that I really didn't want to fall off the wagon yet again. We talked about when, where and why I needed a cigarette in various situations and she made me feel at ease because she explained what I would experience during the process of hypnosis.

It's been over a year since I had that last cigarette! Yes, I've had urges but they go away within a second and every time I don't give into one I feel stronger and better about myself. I don't cough now. I feel much more positive about myself because I've taken one big item off the "to do" list. I don't feel like a fool going into the gym reeking of smoke and being breathless going up the stairs. I didn't realize just how many negative messages I gave myself every time I lit up and it feels so good to get rid of all that negativity.
